Hey everyone,
 Im almost done with my first map, but these stupid lights are making me mad. I searched the forums and thought i found an answer to the problem. And the problem is that my lighting looks like crap, and theres some places that have like black spots on it. I started using the scale option with the ligts but its still looking bad. I try using radius and no go. I just need some expert advice on the subject cuz i want to be done with this map.

    btw... i see that your a scripter i have nt looked lol but whats a tutorial for me to use . Cuz i know i need to know how to do some of that stuff to have really good maps .....i think, but id like to learn anyways. And PS ......Jesus does Own
  
 
  
  
    Are all the lights in your map triggered? if so what are you using to trigger them? Also are you using a compile that has the -light switch in it?
  
 
  
  
    ok heres the deal. My map keeps saying max vert 12, that whole crap
 i searched and found out why, but i cant get my game to stop sayin it. Ive tryed copying the map and takig out brushes that have more than 12 vertices. No go. So i kept looking and finally i saw a post that talked about using te -lomen in the q3map program, so i got it and ive been doing a bsp and light phase in my compile. thats all i can think to do. so all that jsut to answer your quiestion : some rooms have lights atached to a trig multi with the use switch cliked. so the lights turned of and on. but i have soo many lights... like one room has like 12 lights and i just think im doing it wrong. So thats why i just had those 5 scaled 4xs. but my floor is all black not know y.

    hey yall just to clear somthing up.. the reason theres soo many warnings about the textures is because he only had the map file not hte textures soo disregard that part. :)
  
 
  
  
    Don't make those lights switchable. Switchable lights count as lights with lightstyles.
  
 
  
  
    Instead, you could try to use the key 'ambient' in Worldspawn. (Global light.)
 
 Key: Ambient
 Value: 50

    Ambient light sucks more than all of wedge's maps combined *ducks to avoid incoming axe*, hence you should never use it.
 
 "WARNING: Hit per-surface style limit (4)" says you have more than four switchable lights on one map triangle.

 Well, for my trailer I had some scripted lights (it added to the effect, I made the lights blue because of all the purplish/bluish junk around the dark jedi.) Do they count as lights with lightstyles? I mean, there really isnt a difference I guess.

 I removed the impdetention from my shaders directory (it comes with GTK, but is NOT included in Jedi Academy's Assets.pk3s) I figured there is no need for it, and it messes up the Vjun levels!
  
 
  
  
    Patch bogus and leaks don't affect lightmaps, nor does MAX_MAP_VISIBILITY. We al know what the last two errors are, the first one is more tricky. Patch bogus happens when you create a patch without an actual volume, which occurs when you try to hit "Cap" on a cone, in example. The top doesn't need a cap, bnut it will be created without having an actual volume.

    Make all the things that don't show up right func_doors, then open up entities window and select Inactive. I had the same problem in my Lair of Silence. Only problem with this is, if you throw a det, or a trip mine on the "door" the det or trip mine blows up instantly. Or put more lights really close to the floor.
