I'm on the mission where I have to capture a probe droid and bring it to Aeron. I can get the pobe to her but I'm not able to release it once I get to her. Then while I'm sitting there trying to release it the probe is some how destroyed and I loose the mission. Is this a glitch or am I missing something?

you need ot "release" the probe

This is simple. When you get close to Aeron, slow your ship down to 33% or less, then hit Shift-R (this releases a carried object), then fly away from the probe so that you do not hit Aeron or the probe.
