the game locks up occasionally when playing multiplayer, hard reboot needed.

i tested setting the game-video mode as well as the desktop video mode to 16 or 32 bits, turning off gl extensions and so on, does not help.

other comparable games (quake 3, half life etc.) work all fine, actually i never had *any* d3d/ogl related problem...

before someone tries to be smart and posts something like "hey try the dx retail": i have tried all german retail, all german debug, all english retail, all english debug.
i even checked dx8 only and dx8.1 only.

I have exactly the same problem with my G400.
SP runs perfectly, MP hits the freeze/sound loop bug, roughly every 15 minutes on average (though the amount of time played doesn't seem to be a factor)

It's not load-related - I've had it crash with only 2 players in a duel over a LAN, while the other player was over the other side of the room. Neither of us were doing much.

I'm running Win2k SP2, DX8.1, dualhead G400, and have an Epox 8KTA3+ motherboard, with onboard VIA sound. I have an Athlon 1.4GHz & 640MB ram.

I'm pretty sure it's not a temperature problem. I've dropped AGP to 1x, dropped all JK2's graphics and sound options to minimum, turned off GL_EXTENSIONS, killed anything running in the background....
