Quote the Raven (game description)
the game starts with a quote from
a movie, film, tv show, book, etc
*try to keep it pop culture if possible*
and the points go as such:

1 point for title (book movie etc)
1 point for who said it (character)
1 point for author (creator etc)
1 point for actor (if movie or tv)
 <so 3 or 4 point depending on quote.>

 example quote:
"what a wonderful smell you've discovered."

 STAR WARS episode 4 = 1 point
 Han Solo = 1 point
 Harrison Ford = 1 point
 George Lucas = 1 point
for a subtotal of 4 points

now quote must be guessed in 3 goes,
 not three goes per person, 3 posts;
and if not then answer is given by
 person who posted it.

 *special bonus points*
if you guess in 1 try = 2 bonus points
 in 2 tries = 1 bonus points
 in 3 tries = 0 points extra.
AND if no one guesses correctly
10 points for the quotes originator*

 I will begin: Quote

 "I know your destiny,
 you will ask a question,
and die before you hear the answer."

Finally, a new game that isn't embarrassingly infantile.

 Title: The Tenth Kingdom (shudder)

 Char.: Some hunter guy.

 Actor: ?

 Creator: Simon Moore (?)

    :jawa 5 points to Gendo:jawa

 (kind of shocked anyone else
 has ever seen this one,
thought it was worth some points
 for me, for sure.)

*actor was Rutger Hauer as the Huntsman*
so you lose one point there.
<if you had said tape two of three
in Kissing Town, the 4th Kingdom
and to an antique dealing Elf,
I would have scored you full points.>

*you should quote the Raven now Gendo*
 :jawa

    "I Did Not say this,
 I was Not Here."

Sounds a lot like Gus from Drop the Dead Donkey, but I think it's far more likely to be...

...from DUNE, spoken by the Guild Navigator. I assume it's in the book, the movie, and the miniseries, but I know it's in the movie so I'll go with that. So, made 1984, directed by David Lynch, based on the book by Frank Herbert.

 Actor? No idea!

You can have 6 points for that,
that way Gendo will feel competative
and want to beat your score.
I would have really been wowed
if you had said Alan Smithee
which Dune was also released under.

anyway someone else quote the Raven now.

There's no better way to spend the day than some good, old-fashioned arse-kicking!

It's a videogame, not movie. But actor is voice actor.

    not playing alot of games
if it computer cd rom oriented
 perhaps Duke Nukem,
 Quake (any version),
 Half Life, Rainbow Six,
 Unreal Tournament
or any 1st person shooter game.

or some kind of Street Fighter
 thingy... said by some pixelated
punk hopped up on c+++ programing.:D

 just a guess though

Let's just say he's got white hairs... and yellow teeth... I think...

Aha, I got it! MALCOM McDOWELL! I - wait, I uh... hmm.

Hey, y' know what kicks ass? GRAND THEFT AUTO 3! Now there's a fine game, yes sir...

    Zooom over my head
unless he is from Dragonball Z
i have not got a clue.

someone do not waste another post
I have wasted 2, stump this young
whippersnapper or else he will score
big time and beat out you Gendo.
 Kaldaravera get in here
 and dazzle us with your
 electronic occult wisdom and knowledge.

But I have no clue who it is. I don't play many video games...

    :jawa unless Gendo got it:jawa

 anyways sanspoof let us know.

 next raven to quote:

 Drink!
 Feck!
 Girls!

Sorry, it was General Viggo from Fur Fighters. Ummmm... no idea who the voice actor is, though. I was going to check the manual, but... uh... I lost it. But anyway, I win! 10 points to meeee!!!

Its FATHER JACK from FATHER TED.

Give my points to..um..anyone that's NOT HUZ :D

 MY QUOTE!

"All your base are belong to us"

 GUEZ WER THAZ FRUM!

I'm thinking, I'm thinking... Nope, I tried to Wing it, but I came up with Zero.

I've thought of one now, it's so goddamn easy I'm almost ashamed to put it up, but here we go anyway:

"What a swellegant, elegant party this is"

    Sanspoof at 10 points

 Huz at 6 points

 Gendo at 5 points

 scabb at 4 points

 *scabb you get
bonus 2 points for first guess,
but only 2 points for naming
 character and the show.
 If you had added
 the name of an episode
and or the actor who plays Jack
 or had even said
 father jack Hacket
you would have picked up more.*

now we have two ravens in flight,
both Gendo and scabb have released
 winged messengers so skeet shooters
 out there "PULL!" and answer.

Hey, Gendo guessed scabb's. Not much detail, but then there's only so much detail you can give for a line of badly-translated text from a Sega Mega Drive (aka. Genesis) game.

But what's this? I just added some more detail in a desperate attempt to grab extra points? What's the world coming to? :)

Dunno about Gendo's. Frank Sinatra said it for... some reason? *shrug, random guess* I can hear it in my brain but I have no idea where it's from. :P

    Sanspoof 10 points

 Huz 9 points.
 *3 extra points*
 (1 for being noble
 and wanting Gendo
 to have more points,
 and 2 points for
 a desperate grab
 for more points
 I am feeling magnanimous tonight.)

 Gendo 9 points.
 *4 extra points*
 (2 for supossedly guessing
a raven as told by scabb,
 and 2 points for releasing
 another Raven.
and now we have serious competion
as Sanspoof has to watch out
 for a photo finish.)

 scabb 4 points

the rest of the GF forum zero

    Title: Grim Fandango

 Char.: Bowlsley

 Creator: Lucasarts

 Actor: Keith Szarabajka

Ha ha, I saw it first! Piss-easy points for me! Not really fair on Darth, though, he probably hasn't even got that far in the game. Oh well, piss-easy points for me! Ha ha!

(Oh, and it's not "lethal bell" it's "little bell" Bowlsley's accent, you know?)

sorry to lock you up, comrade (Or is it conrade? Ah, never mind!), but I wasn't really trying to do something in the game, so it don't count. I was just saying something I peiced together. I made loads of Grim Fandango 'scenes' that are either real scenes or different things peiced together to make it seem like something out of GF. I also made my own GF Trailer with the voices of Manny (DUH), Glottis, Eva, Copal, Hector, Bowsley, Gunnar, Slisko, Domino, Meche, Pugsley, Terry and Nick.

And Bowsley's voice is hard to understand. Where's he from? Also, using Scumm Rev, I can rip the 3D Models of the characters and stuff onto a 3D Model thing, and if I get Animation Master soon (For a whopping 200 pounds), I can make my own GF animations...

But this has nothing to do with the game. Anyway, Gendo's points don't count. HAH! But as I'm here, I may as well quote a Raven...

 "ME THORAX!!!"

(Oooh... tough one. You have to be a keen player to get this...)

    new points standings:

 GendoTheGreat 26 points

 breakdown past score:
 9 points
 plus new points:
6 points for correct first answer
4 points for amusing reference to my
place and pace in the Land of the Dead
 2 points for correcting quote
3 points because Sanspoof tried to
deprive him of his rightful booty
 2 points arbitrarily added
 simply paraphrasing Maximino:
'things work best when they are fixed.'
 :jawa =26 points

 Huz 9 points

 Sanspoof 8 points
 *penalty minus 2 points
 for using GF quote
which as the great one says,
 is a freebee for sure.*

 scabb=6 points
*he picks up Sanspoofs 2 points
because in physics, matter can not be
 created or destroyed merely converted
and since scabb is the only other soul
so far with a score in my game
 he inherits your demerits:jawa

Kind of vague, but I believe it was:

 Title: The Princess Bride

 Char.: Vizzini

 Actor: Wallace Shawn

Creator: William Goldman (The movie was based on his novel, which I've never read.)

    Gendo shoots he scores
so he is up to 32 points

*and the book is very funny
 because it explains briefly
all the chapters that were omitted
from the original book and why
 the modern publishing company
 thought to do so.*
*in real life the man as a boy
had the story read to him by his
 grandfather; who chose to skip
all the dull stuff, and because the
boy (now the man) never actually
read the book he did not realize
the dull stuff was in it,
and so when he became a father
and his son was ill he killed himself
to find a rare and out of print copy
and gave it to his son to read
whom by the way did not get past
chapter 2; and when the man found out
to his horror that his son did not
 like his fav childhood book
 and worse suddenly discovered
 all the boring stuff
 he convinced his publishing house
to reprint it adding the stuff
his grandfather use to tell him,
 along with brief introductions
into each chapter omitted or replaced
and why the choice was made.

a prime example of this is when
the bride is chosen for the prince
the queeen sails to the girls home
to meet with her, well that chapter
 consists of something like
 26 pages describing in detail
the clothes and hats the women
 of the time period wore;
and then for 19 pages or more
 it described how the queen
 went shopping with the girl
 for hats and stuff,
not the kind of swash buckling
tale a young boy would like.

 another great chapter was the
 author's wife (supposedly)
 going on in length another
40 odd pages about how clever
 this story was
and how clever her husband was
and how lucky you the reader
 were getting the chance
 to read this book.
and this was right in the middle
 of action chapters.

plus there was some funny stuff
that did not happen in the movie
which was a shame cause it was so funny.

 anyways now you all know.

read the book if you can.

Hey, now that's not fair, my penalty and Gendo's points, coz I wasn't using that in the game!!! I wasn't actually Quoting a Raven. I was just saying something coz I was bored and I felt like it. I mean, who would be dumb enough to use a GF Raven Quote on the GF Forums??? It's insane!!! I wasn't Quoting a Raven!!!

    the fate of your points
is in the hands of the great one,
if he posts and says yes,
 thaen you'll get the points back;
 but if he says no,
 well ....
 we shall see

No need for deliberation, I say: cull those points! The joke was very un-funny and all too obvious. However, if see another like it, I will not hesitate to take advantage. Perhaps a new rule is in order?

    in agreement
 very much like Occam's Razor
 the new rule will be
 "Sanspoof Goof's"
 that is when someone quotes
a Raven when it is obviously
a pigeon's egg from El Marrow.
 and further protestation
 of the the gaff,
 will result in spinning
 Ikarian's Wheel
 where the Great One
 will decide how many
 negative bonus points
 are lucky contestant gets.

 so for the good idea,
 2 more points for Gendo
 bringing his score to

 34

 and Sanspoof only has
 8 lives now:D

    "well at least
 I didn't use a spoon."

Title: Robin hood: Prince of Thieves

 Char.: Sherrif of Nottingham

 Actor: Alan Rickman

 Director: Kevin Reynolds

A quip uttered by the Sherrif after offing his righthand flunky (who also happened to be his cousin) after yet another failed attempt by said flunky to usurp Hood's plans. The Sherrif previously been heard to discuss with his unfortunate former lackey his plans to remove Robin's heart with a spoon ("Because it's blunt you idiot, it'll hurt more!") after a run in with the wily Prince in which he came away the loser, sporting an impressive gash on his face.

    Gendo scores 6 points
 plus 2 more
 for movie synopsis
bringing him to a total of
 42 points.

 *and curse you trivia boy!
 is there nothing
I can stump you with? :D

 Sanspoof 8 points

It's just unfortunate for you I happen to be big fan Alan Rickman. Ha!

 Here's one for y'all.

 "Eleven out of Ten. Absoludle!"

For some it'll be a piece of piss. For others, much much less piss.

that's a book called The Power of One. I read a while ago so I forgot everything else.

Hows this? "The only difference between Suicide and Martyrdom is press coverage."

    your signature could be
 a wicked quote in itself.;)
as soon as Gendo chimes in
 with an answer I'll update
 any points coming to you.

in the meantime a second quote
 to make things interesting.
 Hey Gendo double or nothing
Trivia Master go for them both:

 enhance 34 to 46
 pull back
 wait a minute
 go right
 stop
 enhance 57 to 19
 track 45 left
 stop
 enhance 15 to 23
give me a hard copy right there

sorry if it's for gendo, but its Blade Runner. Forgot the characters name. It's directed by Ridley Scott. I perferred the directers cut of Blade Runner much better.

Oh, and thanks for the idea, eggplant. its a song if that is allowed

ah, yes the up beat song lyrics
of Mel Torme. so glad to see there's
another fan of the Velvet Fog out there.
 ;)

Cut me outta this game, okay? Remove me and my points.

Velvet Fog? Sorry, I have never heard of them. When did Velvet Fog say this? We will see what was ealier to see who wins.

Mine was Residents Walter Westinghouse on the Fingerprince album of 1976. If yours was before '76, I'll consider myself stupid.

Was Mel Torme a Residents fan or was Residents a Mel Torme fan? We'll just have to see.

I have another quote, "BECAUSE THE OTHER THREE ARE FIGMENTS OF YOUR F*CKING IMAGINATION!"

    your quote sounds familiar
but my head is in velet fog tonight.
 how about this quote
 in lew of an answer:

 "God's Holy Trousers."

Give Jofa his well-deserved points for what I thought would be a head-scratcher for sure. I would also like to score some points off him:

BECAUSE THE OTHER THREE ARE FIGMENTS OF YOUR ****ING IMAGINATION!

 Title: Chasing Amy

 Char: Banky

 Actor: Jason Lee

 Creator: Kevin Smith

Too easy, man. I hated that movie.

Well, I wanted to give one away for all those who were so confused with my Residents quotes or my Palahniuk quotes(that reminds me his new book came out!).

I myself am a huge Kevin Smith fan, and I like Chasing amy. Dogma is my favorite though.....But I digress, I have some more headscratching quotes only known by people of underground music.

"Stand rigid for your next battle.
 Peace means reloading your guns.
Love for life is all hatred in disguise.
A carnival creation with masks undone."

    *this entire forum is Wonky!

I have a special Raven to Quote.
like an essay you may wax
 as poetically as you can.
this Raven is worth 10 points.
*20* if you can supply the bonus
 question attached to it.

 ready here goes the quote:

 "Quanti Canicula Ille In Fenestra"

 bonus: supply it's counterpart.

I thought someone would get this
for sure, I am giving it 72 hours
more and then if not solved
 I'm taking the 20 points.

 *a hint perhaps 4 elephants & a turtle.*
