The Day of the Dead is, In my opinion, more spiritual and haunting than Halloween (Or as I like to call it, 'Hallow's Eve' That's an old English name by the way). I even made some paper-mache calaveras!

That's not the point. The reason why Day of the Dead(Dias De Las Muertos) is so wonderful is that it celebrates the dead in a upbeat festival manner. On this day, they choose not to mourn or greive the death of their loved ones and have a big festival. Also, I just ate some Pande Muertos(a kind of sweet bread on this holdiday) It tastes really good.

October 31: All Hallow's Eve
November 1: All Saints Day
November 2: Day of the Dead

These are all upbeat wonderful holidays That I like to define in this manner. Holloween is celebrating the demons we all try to hide, and we bring them out in the form of vampires, ghouls, witches and zombies. All Saints Day is pretty self-explanatory, celebrating the saintly people and the people of God (on this particular day, the sun burns my skin ;) )And day of the dead are celebrating those who have passed away, and instead of feeling sad for their death, they feel happy for their life that they lead, and makes people recognize that death is a step up and should honor death. Death is not the end of life, it is a part of life, and the most important as well.

Of course, I'm not sure that's what they wanted the holidays to be, that is just how I celebrate them.

Halloween is the ancient pagen
holiday Samhain and ALL Saints Day
was the churches feeble attempt
to co-opt it. Day of The Dead
which gets celebrated all week
leading up to the actual day
is a huge big happy pinats.
as Manny says so well in the game
it really is a holiday for the living
but the dead just play along with it.

I am not sure about it but in some
places in North America Devil's Night
which falls on the 30th of october
seems to be more of a thugs night out.
Now I am basing this on the book
and movie The Crow, the first
and only real Crow movie,
Devil's Night we don't have that
here in Canada.
But for the Day of the Dead,
hotels book up early
as many tourists
go to experience this festival.
